This is an exquisite large world map after modeled after Delisle’s lead. The twin hemispheres show a western North America yet to be fully explored, eastern Greenland as well as Asian Russia. Antactica is unexplored. Only the western portion of Nouvelle Hollande (Australia) and southern South Island of New Zealand are explored and shown. Not uncommonly, Nouvelle Hollande (Australia) is shown joined with one of the Spice Islands, and New Guiana in this case. The routes and dates of travel of major explorers are plotted. Surrounding the map are four polar projections. The elaborate upper title cartouche includes four female personifications of the continents. The lower cartouche floats in the sea with a merman & mermaid and sea monsters.
