General Sherman ordered this map to immortalize his troop's movements during the Civil War -- Drawn by Captain William Kossak, and compiled under the direction of Bvt. Maj. W.L.B. Jenney. It covers SE US: Mobile in the south, Washington DC and Louisville in the north, east to Chesapeake Bay and Little Rock to the west. Lots of detail provided on roads, trails, towns, villages, rivers, and railroads. Infantry, Cavalry, fortifications on both sides are shown indicated in color. One color is used to show the route in Pursuit of Hood and other colors show the Movements of the Cavalry Corps of Genl. J.H. Wilson and G. Stoneman. There is a long list crediting thirteen different referenced authorities. Issued in the war period. Color lines.
