A highly decorative nineteenth century map of Oceania including Australia colored to show the colonial possessions. The interiors of Australia and the islands are mostly void of detail. The map, as with other Levasseur maps, is surrounded by hand colored, steel-engraved scenes.  It includes natives, French explorers and a harbor vignette, plus text in French about the region.
