This is an outstanding decorative map of the 'Chesapeack Bay" area of today's N. Virginia, E. Maryland, and Delaware. Map is oriented due West vs. today's North convention -- after Smith's Virginia - uncolored. It is beautifully engraved with mountains, rivers, and forests as well as Indian villages in the region. The title and distance scale cartouches feature putti and a scene at upper right features Native Americans with several exotic animals.
