This is a fantastic pocket map of North America (with only parts of Canada) and parts of South America. It was published near the end of the California Gold Rush hence the focus on "all the routes to California." Much flux was present in the western US Territories, 8 large ones shown here, with some unusual configurations. These territories include Washington, Oregon, Northwest, Minnesota, Utah, New Mexico, Nebraska, and Indian Territory. Many details are offered including topography, rivers, railroads, wagon roads, sea routes and Indian tribes. Five sailboats and steamships are shown in the vignettes and at lower left there is a table listing distances between ports. Surrounded by a decorative border. Various varians were published excluding Fanning.
