This is a highly unique, seldom seen for sale, large bird's eye view of Boston from the perspective of the Bay. E Whitefield, made his way from England to America and eventually to Boston. There he was commissioned by Mayor J Quincy, Jr., to create a view of his city based on the rare engraving owned by the mayor, which was created about a century previously, "A South East View of ye Great Town of Boston in New England in America" by C Burton in 1743. This is a magnificent view of Boston with many ships also shown in the harbor. Very few copies of Whitfield's view are attainable or present. Not listed in OCLC nor by the Library of Congress.
